Emmy Fashions - The Good and the Uh oh's
I just love red carpet events. Don't you?
I must admit, I spent a good part of last night flipping channels between the Yankees game versus the Red Sox and the Emmy's. But I saw plenty on the red carpet and onstage to satisfy my jones for glamour.
Here are some trends we saw that you may want to pay attention to when putting together your look for that next big event.
1) Natural, free flowing hair.
Most of the ladies took the natural approach to their hair, letting their hair just flow. And with a few exceptions, those looks came off the best.
2) Jewelry = big dangly earrings (though not too big Marcia Cross!), some sparkly dangle bracelets, and a bare neck and decolletage (a trend I'm sure the fine jewelry merchants are none too thriled about.)
3) Color. We saw a lot of beautiful bold colors on the red carpet with red (see below) and hot pink/magenta leading the way.
4) Mermaid and fitted columns. Better suck it in and invest in a pair of Spanx, girls. These hot looks leave no room for pot bellies or butt craters and dimples.
5) Old-fashioned glamour. From the makeup to the focus on an overall look, that old-fashioned Hollywood glamour look is back. The feeling seems to be when the occasion is right, why pretend to be casual? Do it up to the nines.
Here's a look at some of the fashion yeses and oh no's from last night's Emmy Awards.
One big yes for the night were the ladies in red. They included:

New Jersey's own royalty, Queen Latifah.

Ali Larter.

Ginnifer Goodwin.

Katherine Morris.

Mary-Louise Parker.
We're happy to say there were a lot of "yes" looks on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards. Here are some of our favorites.

Eva Longoria. This girl is wearing that dress, you hear me. And I ain't mad at her, either. If you got it, flaunt it. She's got it.

America Ferrera. I just love her and she looks divine in this cobalt blue number by Monique Lhuillier.

Felicity Huffman. Now THIS is a red carpet gown. And you can just tell she feels great wearing it. That's half the battle, isn't it?

Teri Hatcher. Hatcher is the new spokesmodel for Badgley Mischka and she's doing the label proud here. Gorgeous.

Katherine Heigl. This white Zac Posen gown, combined with the right makeup and the right hair, equals one of the best looks of Emmy night. Bravo.
Now for the not so great's.

Heidi Klum. Oh Heidi, that hair, that hair. Why?

Paula Abdul. Who let her out of the house looking like this? Someone ought to be fired. And just notice how the bag matches the bra. Classy!

Marcia Cross. I didn't even notice the icky dress at first. I was focusing on the jawbreakers she was wearing as earrings. See, I thought she was being clever, wearing something to snack on during the ceremony. Note to Marcia, there's a reason why these were still in the case when you visited the jeweler.

Vanessa Williams. Oh 'Nessa, 'Nessa, 'Nessa. Yes, girl, we love the color, too. But those feathers. This isn't a stage in Vegas. Somewhere there's a whole flock of pissed off chickens shivering and wondering ... why us?
