MTV Movie Awards - The Short Dress Rules
It's official.
The chic look for summer is the short, cocktail dress.
This is a look we like, although some of the dresses seemed a tad too short.
Cut of the dress is also important as you'll see. And might we also suggest that a little bit of pattern goes a long way. Solid color dresses in striking (one) tones seemed to work best.
In the real world, we would also strongly suggest that you do the "sit down" test before copying some of these looks. Why go through a whole night having to worry if someone can see what you don't want them to.
But that's just us.
Here's a look at some of the fabulous (and also ran's).
Ashley Tisdale, Ocean Township's own Hollywood star.
The color is fab, the length is not. Exhibit A on why you want to avoid below the knee cocktail dresses. Either go short or go long but in between doesn't work.
Cameron Diaz demonstrates what we mean by a dress that's too short.
Jessica Alba.
Not bad. A tad too long though, but Alba always knows how to rock a frock.
Megan Fox.
Not bad. Beautiful color. A little too voluminous a style for her, though.
Elizabeth Banks.
Well done. She looks great from head to toe.
Victoria Beckham.
So trashy she almost looks good. Almost.

I just wonder what length you would suggest for a 40-something mother of three whose legs are bad, but isn't trying to be a 20something either. I think the Jessica Alba is just fine
So what do recommend oh fashion diva for women who are more than twig size? Super-short won't work for 40somethings, even if it does come in our size
